Saturday Daytime: Polkadelphia

Not your ordinary oompah band, Polkadelphia plays traditional German and Polish favorites as well as more modern covers by artists as diverse as Radiohead, the Beatles, the White Stripes, and Metallica. Based in Philadelphia, they are in high demand throughout the tri-state area. Polkadelphia has been featured at Steelstacks Oktoberfest, Musikfest, Philly Bierfest, and Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein. They have performed on television at WVIA”s legendary Pennsylvania Polka, and have been immortalized as special guests on the reality tv show Worst Cooks in America.

Saturday Evening: The Bratwurst Boys

The Bratwurst Boys are currently the hottest Oktoberfest band out of Long Island amongst a growing scene of young lederhosen clad hipsters and dirndl wearing frauleins. Steeped in the tradition of their German families and wanting to perform a myriad of musical styles,  the boys felt it was time to come together to form a sound and look that appeals to audiences of all ages and ethnicities. Be ready to dance, drink beer, drink more beer and party with one of the only Oktoberfest bands that wear real leather!

Sunday: Doppelgänger

Maybe you want to reconnect with your German heritage. Maybe you want to relive a great vacation experience. Or maybe you just want to do something different. All good reasons to come see Doppelgänger. Performing a great mix of the most fun Oktoberfest songs and classic American party music. Come join in the fun and raise a glass with us. Prost!

We are a five piece band from Philadelphia consisting of Hans, Fritz, Helmut, Otto and Wolfgang.

Dance Performers

Saturday and Sunday: Alpenrose Schuhplattlerverein–Lancaster

The Lancaster Alpenrose Schuhplattler Verein performs a variety of folk dances from both Germany and Austria. Adults and children of all ages participate in these dances.

Nothing is more recognized throughout the world nor more representative of Bavaria and the Austrian Tyrol than Schuhplattler dancing. Schuhplattling, which literally translates to shoe-slapping, can be traced back to the 11th-14th century. It is considered a mimic of the male Auerhahn bird who courts the female by flapping his wings and kicking up his feet around a circle. The woman plays her part by spinning, as a way to challenge the man. Indeed, it is difficult for the man to “catch” the woman to waltz with him.

The Tracht (formal dress-wear) worn by the men and women dancers has remained unchanged, for the most part, for over 200 years.
